美国许多媒体刊登了习总吃包子的报道和一组照片。雅虎的报道很快跟了数百条帖子。虽然有少数几条牵涉到不和谐的内容，比如希望习总跟刘某分享包子，但多数评论是肯定的。特选择翻译数条。
哪一个是习主席？照片里每个人看起来都差不多。（Which one is the president? Everybody looks alike in the picture??）
中国领导人展现致力于民众交际，不错。可是，为什么这成了美国的新闻？除非中共付雅虎很多钱来发表它。（Good that Chinese leader showing and working on people diplomacy, but why this become American news unless the CCP paid yahoo big sum of money to posted it. ）
就像奥巴马和拜登顺路在汉堡包店停留。（Like Obama and Biden stopping by a burger joint. ）
这是模仿驻华大使骆家辉。（This mimics Gary F. Locke., US ambassador to China. ）
可能他看到罗马天主教皇弗朗西斯的92%的支持率，决定仿效他。（Maybe he saw the 92% approval rating among Catholics of Pope Francis and decided to emulate him. ）
那只是作秀。跟以往的领导人不同，习正在迅速地学习西方的政治领导人，用照片和联系民众的形象来增强自己的形象，以左右中国选民的意向。在过去的50年，绝大多数的美国政治家都是这么做的。那是一种古老的政治把戏。（It was only for the show. Unlike other Chinese leaders in the past, Xi is learning fast from their western political leaders, to enhance his own image by photo-up and public relation images trying to manipulate the opinion of Chinese voters. Most US politicians have been doing that for the past 50 years. It is an old political trick! ）
他是拥有我们美国经济的国家的老板。请对他显现一些尊重。（He’s the guy who runs the country that now owns our economy, show him some respect. ）
奥巴马将会到沃尔玛，在他的吃福利的奴才们兑现每个月的支票时候，跟他们一起排队。（Obama is going to wait in line at a WalMart with his welfare minions as they cash their monthly checks.

（注：英语中的President，美国人的理解是"总统"。因而，中国国家主席，相当于中国的总统。）
习近平继续紧紧掌控他的权力，但他不断给人一个好人的印象。中国人正在重塑某些重要的"品牌形象"。（Xi Jinping keeps tightening his hold on power but he keeps coming off as a nice guy. The Chinese are doing some major image re-branding. ）
我只是祈祷和希望习近平是中国的另一位戈尔巴乔夫。（I just pray and hope Mr. Xi Jinping is another Mikhail Gorbachev of China. ）

我们可能在过去100年里，没有过像习这样聪明的总统（主席）。如果有的话。（We probably haven’t had a president as smart as Xi in the last 100 years. If ever. ）
一个领导人出现在民众中，与他们打成一片，来向人们显示他是一个（普通的）人，我认为这是好事。（I think it is a good thing for a leader to mingle and show his people that he is human.）
他在一个简朴的餐馆用餐，而不是在一个党员官员经常光顾的华丽、奢侈的饭店，此事实增强了习作为一个简单、爱国、可敬和不腐败的领导的形象。它更是像给其他的党的官员传递了一个信息：他们应该像习一样，如果他们想事情进展顺利的话。（The fact that he ate at a simple restaurant and not the gaudy, luxurious restaurants party officials usually frequent, furthers the image of Xi as a simple, patriotic, honorable and non-corrupt leader. More than likely it also sends a message to other party officials that they need to act more like Xi if they want things to go smoothly. ）
令人振奋！美国的领导人有时候这样做，并得到大量新闻报道，得到与普通民众见面的机会。可能中国人正在学习新的社交技能，以提高在世界上的社会地位。（Refreshing! US leaders sometimes do this and get great press coverage and a chance to meet regular people. Maybe the Chinese are learning new social skills to augment their social standing in the world.）
好极了！很高兴看到曾经在农村服务过的中国主席习近平，经常真诚地出入于民众之中，为民众工作，并为民众推动改革。谨表美好的祝愿。（Wonderful! Good to see Chinese President Xi, who used to serve in the village, to often sincerely go and come closer among the people, work for the people, and push new reform for the people. Best wish.）
我已经在北京居住了数年，已走遍全国。我能确定民众对习近平和他妻子的真心的热爱和尊敬。他是人民的主席，所有中国人民的主席。（I have lived in Beijing for a few years and have traveled China far and wide. I can confirm the real love and respect people have for President Xi and his wife. He is peoples President, all Chinese people.）
习主席万岁！（Long Live President Xi ! ）
